UPDATE: Bungie: Call of Duty Conversation "Might Come Up"

At the moment, Bungie's partnership with Activision is solely focused on its own universe and titles – but the Halo maker won't rule out possibly working on Activision's own series on the face.

When it was announced yesterday that Halo developer Bungie had signed on a partnership with Activision, some put on that the studio apartment was Activision's new Federal Protective Service wi in the whole to replace the crumbling Eternity Ward. Despite fans worried that their favorite studio had sold taboo to the vex, Bungie employees took pains to reassure them that the developers were noneffervescent independent and retained full hold in concluded their properties.

While the partnership is primarily based or so Bungie's new game universe, and Bungie's main focus right now is completing Anchor rin: Reach, Bungie's community director Brian Jarrard told UGO to ne'er order never regarding Activision's other properties. On paper, Bungie could potentially opt to operate on unusual titles originating from Activision brands like Call of Responsibility.

"It's a discussion that might seed up, only they partnered with us specifically based happening the vision that we have, and the universe and games that we want to bring to the world in the next decade," same Jarrard. "WHO's to have intercourse if there are opposite discussions where we receive chances to bring on in concert in other areas, but that wasn't peerless of the core talking points in making this cope."

I get into't doubt Jarrard's word that information technology wasn't really a part of the negotiations betwixt Bungie and Activision thus far: One and only party is focused happening making its next spirited and the provision for its radical "universe," and the other is difficult to keep its previously prized studio from down apart.

Simply I'll eat in my lid if people – on both sides of the conversation – haven't leastwise thought about it. "Promise of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – now from the makers of Halo!" Would that sell like crazy or what?

Or what all but Guitar Halo, eh? Eh??

Update: Jarrard has processed his comments to VideoGamer, saying that Bungie is not intelligent about doing Call of Tariff "at all."

"But information technology's definitely non something we're interested in the least bit, and there have been no discussions around that. This partnership and every discussion over the last nine months has been alone based on Bungie bringing its possess original IP and its next creation to aliveness … Information technology's possible that I aforementioned, corresponding I wouldn't say that we would never have that word. But I should definitely elucidate that a hundred per cent our focus passing forward is happening our own IP.

"We are emphatically elysian and excited to work at our own primary IP. Working on someone else's intellectual property does not excite us the least bit."
